I have started on a library-side FS overlay support, but it's surprisingly tricky to get the implementation right. As for high-level structure, it seems best to only have directory operations in the overlay layer, and an *_open() that returns a VFS handle (if this seems obvious, I don't think it is). I am still progressing towards a usable safety-first C-like programming language, thought for now I reduced my goals for the first iteration. That does not mean that my initial goals are not feasible; it just takes too much time. -- Jirka Z.
