Dear Ragunath,
I am a post graduate student from India and I am interested in
contributing to HelenOS project through GSOC 2015.
Thanks for your interest. We will certainly apply for GSoC 2015, but of
course we cannot guarantee that we will be selected by Google.
The capabilities of kconsole are intestesting and I am exploring it
for sometime now. I found that with "symaddr" command,
I am not able to resolve the symbol address. Call commands are also
having issues.I was trying to call a function through "call0" command,
but it says "symbol not found".
The syntax of the symbol name is a bit non-standard. The format is
<object_file>:<symbol>
The object_file is a path relative to the kernel source tree. So for
example one symbol is
generic/src/printf/printf.o:printf
On most platforms you can use tab-completion to list and complete the
symbol, but you must type the first character at least. Frankly, I am
not sure if this feature works flawlessly on BeagleBone, because I don't
have the board and therefore I cannot test it now.
I would like to work on this. Is is necessary to have a bug opened
for this?
Opening a ticket is just a convenient way to tell other people that you
are currently working on something, thus minimizing the chance that
someone else is going to independently spend his/her time on the same
thing. But it is neither necessary nor a guaranteed mutual exclusion.
If yes, how to open it?
If you prefer to open a ticket (again, it is not necessary), simply
register at http://trac.helenos.org/ and create a new ticket (please
check for duplicates first).
M.D.
