Subject: Tokyocabinet for AIX build

I'm trying to build tokyocabinet on AIX 5.2 for Cfengine. After a successful
./configure of tokyocabinet a make returns this error:
tcutil.o tchdb.o tcbdb.o tcfdb.o tctdb.o tcadb.o myconf.o md5.o -L.
-L/home/nwatson/cfengine/lib -L/home/nwatson/lib -L/usr/local/lib
-lrt -lpthread -lm -lc ; \
fi
ld: 0706-005 Cannot find or open file: libtokyocabinet.so.9
ld:open(): A file or directory in the path name does not exist.
collect2: ld returned 255 exit status
make: *** Error 1
The line about 'Cannot find or open file' is strange. This process should be
making libtokyocabinet.so.9 not trying to open it. Any AIX experts out there
that can help?
