Hi, thanks for responding. The output creates noise. Under v2, output could be 
redirected to /dev/null, does that functionality not exist in v3?

The -q switch is unavailable in Solaris's grep. It is GNU grep only,
AFAIR. Who worries of stdout in returnszero() call, anyway?
