Maybe my question was too short to be understandable ;-) Anyway searching for
"cfe|sol|sun|86|sp" in the defined classes on a Solaris box

on x86 platform
yields..........................................................and on sparc it
yields

...............................................................................................Cfengine
cfengine_3............................................................................cfengine_3
cfengine_3_1........................................................................cfengine_3_1
cfengine_3_1_0...................................................................cfengine_3_1_0
compiled_on_solaris2_10..................................................compiled_on_solaris2_10
...............................................................................................SUNW_A70
...............................................................................................solaris
solarisx86.............................................................................
i386.......................................................................................sparc
i86pc.....................................................................................sun4u
...............................................................................................SunOS
sunos_5_10.........................................................................sunos_5_10
sunos_i86pc.........................................................................sunos_sun4u
sunos_i86pc_5_10..............................................................sunos_sun4u_5_10
sunos_i86pc_5_10_Generic_142901_03........................sunos_sun4u_5_10_Generic_142900_02
...............................................................................................SUNW,A70

So, there is no class which identifies an OS as Solaris regardless of version
and platform.
solaris can otherwise be used regardless of OS version if I remember correctly,
but not on x86 platform.
I believe that always having to remember to use two classes (or a new class) to
select or deselect
Solaris will at some point be forgotten and may cause unwanted consequences.
