This is normal.  I use cygwin for the Unix utils (mv/cp/ln, ls, file, grep, 
less, zsh, diff, patch etc.) but do not use its perl, python or emacs.  The 
filesystem and path issues (/cygdrive etc.) quickly become too severe no matter 
how you adjust the cygwin mount points.
