Hello Eli (and Dominique)! Just a quick comment (as much to clear up my own misunderstandings as anything else):

For the record, I am running a 64-bit version of emacs on windows that I *thought* I downloaded from an "official" location. This emacs reports itself as: GNU Emacs 24.4.1 (x86_64-w64-mingw32) of 2014-10-20 on KAEL I downloaded it as: emacs-bin-w64-24.4.7z on 11//22/14. It is, indeed, 64 bits, as it shows up in the windows task manager as emacs.exe (rather than emacs.exe*32). I do not remember where I got it, but I *thought* I got it from the official gnu emacs site. I also have a 32-bit emacs downloaded the same day as: emacs-24.4-bin-i686-pc-mingw32.zip. It reports itself as: GNU Emacs 24.4.1 (i686-pc-mingw32) of 2014-10-24 on LEG570 Best regards. K. Frank
