I've just downloaded the texinfo sources of the 'Emacs lisp reference
manual'
The original distribution from ftp.gnu.org, or something else?
index.texi is a link to a index.unperm
My first reaction is, remove the symlink, and then copy the actual file
it linked to to index.texi. If that doesn't work, please send the
output from texi2pdf elisp.texi.
