When reading a Spice file, it is supposed to be the same as Spice. Things like this are usually artifacts of the parser. It can be fixed, but things like this often slip by. Gnucap "spice" is closer to "HSpice" (Spice-2 derivatives) than it is to Spice-3 derivatives.
