Hi all,

I've installed Debian 12 with the Root-Partition (and the /boot directory)
on two NVMEs with a software RAID 1 (legacy BIOS / no UEFI Boot). Everything
was working.

I don't know what I have changed but now GRUB does not boot (automatically)
anymore. I get:

error: file `/boot/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod´ not found.

$prefix and $root are both correct and if I just type “insmod normal” the
module is loaded successfully. I can start “normal” and get the Menu and can
boot without any problems.

It just does not boot automatically.

I've already ran “grub-mkconfig” and “update-grub” – no avail.

When I (intentionally) try to load a module that is not present, I get an
error message with the correct path.

I can also call “ls $prefix/boot/grub/i386-pc/” and get a list of all the
modules.

Filesystem is Ext4 – e2fsck reports no errors. MD-Raid mirror is okay – even
ran a full verify.

I don’t understand what the difference is between my “insmod normal” and the
one that is executed automatically.

Best Regards

Tobias
