Does anyone have a setup with a plain WM which has a working
system keychain? I use EXWM, but I assume other WM-only setups
would have the same issue and solution.
It used to be that element-desktop[1] would ask me to enter my
password to unlock the system keychain when I ran it. The current
version doesn’t do that anymore; it shows a dialog saying "Your
system has an unsupported keyring meaning the database cannot be
opened" and offers me "Cancel" and "Use weaker encryption"
buttons. "Cancel" terminates the program. I don’t know what "Use
weaker encryption" does, since I don’t want to use weaker
encryption.
I’ve seen similar problems with other programs that need a
keychain, like Nextcloud.
Any guidance would be very appreciated!
