I’m using Guix on top of Arch, as a foreign package manager, and it performs as expected. It should be the same for you. If you get emacs 28, then you’re probably using a really old guix install, not upgraded since a very long time, right ? In such case, maybe a new fresh install is a better option (using the binary installer, not the debian package). Consider that, for example, guix files under /etc/profile.d have changed since your last upgrade, with unexpected effects; same for the systemd daemon files, etc. C.
