Hi Irfan,
Yes, you and seven other kind people gently indicated how
careless I
was to not use ' guix system reconfigure /etc/config.scm' . I
also
understand that config.scm can be anywhere,
but there should only be one of these which, at the very least
defines
a user list; I think.
I’m not sure what you’re trying to say. The configuration must
contain an operating-system record, which may include users to
create
on the system.
Perhaps a different type of config.scm may be necessary to
encapsulate
a 'reproducible environment of builds, but I can't yet fathom if
said
reproducible builds environment' can also define itself for a
separate
set of users at the same IP #.
The simplest way to get a reproduceable environment is with a
channels.scm file to configure channels and pin commits; and a
manifest of packages from the commits in those channels to use.
IPs and users aren’t relevant outside an operating-system. The
build
environment (which is used to build Guix packages) has no network
access, and build commands run as root within that environment.
You can create a VM image of an operating-system, if you need some
specific users / IP configuration..
