well, I don't see it in tar-1.11 (straight from ftp.gnu.org); but it could
be that I'm looking at it wrong. so I'll take your word for it. :)

my boss says that he remembers it from AT&T SysV, and maybe SCO. he
expresses condolences on anyone trying to bring it back. ;>

let's just let it all drop, until the next newbie comes along. :)
