To night a beauteful baby-girl was born at my office: The Hurd booted more or less completely on my machine.
I have asked and written previously about my problems making Hurd boot, and will not go into details here. But it seemes to be the old "linux"-problem:My home machine was too new;with brand new hardware and lack of drivers due to the old licence-problem this is a well known problem in trying setting up a linuxPC. My office machine was 2 years older and everything went smooth. A latest-gnu-tarball.tgz was opened in the mounted partition, and a image-grub was dd'ed to the floppy.(This machine also takes the complete SuSE-linux,but the home machine does not). The office machine easily received the ./native-install command and was working out everything as expected,as far as I could tell. So now I have at least the gnuMach running with a Bourn shell at the prompt. The baby-girl "Hirda" - which is a suitable Norwegian name for her - thanks you all and is waiting for nicer and bigger clothes from you as she is growing. _______________________________________________ Help-hurd mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/help-hurd
