Gcc does not actually fall back to normal read/write. Should we ask them to fix that? > Why can't you use libpager? This is a netfs-based filesystem (tarfs). So far, I've never felt like needing libpager and that's why I'm not using it currently (however, you might be able to find good reasons/ways to use it for this particular filesystem?).
