Subject: Cosmic Dawn Science Interest Group

The COPAG has started a new Science Interest Group (SIG), for Cosmic Dawn
Science.
The SIG will hold a focus meeting on the topic of "Probes of Cosmic Dawn" just
prior to the AAS 227th Meeting (2016 January 4; Kissimmee, FL). Please join us
there.

"Cosmic Dawn" refers to the epoch of formation of the first stars, the first
black holes, and the assembly of the first galaxies, when the Universe made a
transition from a nearly completely neutral state back to its current, nearly
fully ionized state. The New Worlds, New Horizons Decadal Survey identified
Cosmic Dawn as one of the three science objectives for this decade.

The Cosmic Dawn SIG will collect community input and define long-term Cosmic
Origins science objectives that can be addressed by space-based observations.
A primary goal for the SIG will be to identify a compelling suite of science
cases energizing the community to support investment in next generation
missions or facilities. The SIG will also suggest potential technologies for
missions of different sizes, and will facilitate joining the needs of the
science community with the plans of the technology community.
The SIG is open to any interested member of the community, and we welcome any
and all input. To join the Cosmic Dawn SIG mailing list, please contact Joseph
Lazio (joseph.la...@jpl.nasa.gov). Further information is at
http://cd-sig.jpl.nasa.gov/ or http://cor.gsfc.nasa.gov/sigs/sig3.php
