Julia's Beer Dip

I got this recipe from a friend
of ours. It's really excellent.

Ingredients

2 packages (8 oz each) of cream cheese, softened
  1 pouch ranch dressing mix
  2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/3 cup beer

Directions

Mix cream cheese and ranch dressing.

Mix together thoroughly.

Add in cheddar cheese, mix thoroughly.

Stir in beer.

Cover and let sit in refridgerator
for 2-3 hours.

The extra liquid will be soaked up.

Nutritional Info

I have no idea what a serving size
for dip would be, so I didn't even
bother calculate.

My variations

I used low fat cream cheese, 2%
cheddar cheese, and Natty Light
for the beer.

You can also use non-alcoholic beer.

I'm not sure what it would be like
with a non Miller/Bud/Coors type beer.

Also, I ate it with baked Ruffles.

Funny story (actually, probably not
that funny) about the ranch dressing mix.
I was at the store trying to decide what
packet to buy, when I noticed they had
"Fat Free Ranch Dip Mix".

My brain said "Er? What sort of fat is
in the dressing mix to begin with?".
Well, turns out that for the fat-free mix,
they just tell you to mix it with fat-free
sour cream. Derrrrrrr
