If you are going to build one of these Hexayurt things, the best first step is to build a model. That is what I did last year, actually 3 or 4 and they really helped. Oh and they make an awful hat in my opinion. I think the roof only would be a good hat just no sides.
Anyway I am just about to start that process again. I wanted to find out if anyone has made paper doll style cut outs for making all the Hexayurt models. Last year I found getting copies made on stiff cardboard(thickest they had at the copy store) worked best. My models were 1 inch = 1 foot so I was able to get 2 - 4 X 8 per sheet of 8 1/2 by 11 paper. Not much cutting. If you do it at the store they have a cutter that will shorten the time even more. To that end if you are good with a paper cutter you wouldn't need any guide lines on the paper. I originally used 4 X 6 note cards and that was way to time consuming adding 2" per card. Also it looked visually messy and did not represent the real build methodology. So has anyone made paper dolls for Hexayurts?
