for a test run, you can just use patches of the filament tape, rather than whole straps, or duct tape as long as it's stuck to the *tape* on the boards, not the board surfaces. Duct tape does not do well in the sun, so it's not good to just leave it on there.
Also worth a shot - plain old brown parcel tape. 3" wide is enough for a test.
