Very cool! Nice to see trainings happening. I dunno if you've tried the framing thing, but _in general_ the interface between the wooden structure and the insulation boards doesn't work very well. Right now, I think the best bet for a tougher, insulated hexayurt is plywood (plans are on the site, but are still being refined) with foaming wood glue to hold it together, and then the double bubble wrap insulation (reflectix) stapled to the inside.
I think there's some room for doing a "pole barn" type construction too - six posts, screw the walls to the posts, hang the roof on the walls. Seventh post in the center, run some 2x4, insulate under it and we begin to edge into cabins. Do take lots of pictures (and video if possible) on the day, it'll be nice to see.
