hi all - i've been wading through a huge amount of documentation on hexayurts online & came to this google group.
i am building my first hexa for bman this year after experiencing the joy of a friend's in '08. it looks like they are incredibly easy to make, but there are a few details that i am hoping to optimize, but am finding it difficult to sort the various opinions i find online. i'm interested in a folding or partially folding hexayurt design in order to reduce on-playa setup time. i found people on the web saying: - folding designs are not great for bman because the tape attachments do not have the same wind resistance (?) - the 6' stretch hexayurt fully folding design can be packed into a 4' x 8' package (whereas the 8' is much bigger) - how necessary is an exhaust fan for the table saw angle-cutting? is there any other way to cut those angles? i have plenty of friends with appropriate table saws in their shops, but noone seems set up with an exhaust (& i'd hate to spew fiberglass all over their wood/metal shops) can anyone speak to these? (i am interested in folding it into the smallest package possible, as i don't have access to a large truck and will as it is be asking around for space on a roof rack, etc) also, i just started perusing the discussion threads, but it looks like there might be a group order happening of thermax HD (which seems to be a sturdier if harder to cut material?) for delivery in the bay area. i'd be interested in that if it, indeed, is still happening & i have a handful of friends building hexayurts as well who might be into it. thanks so much & sorry if my questions are a little basic! wanda -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "hexayurt" group.
