Hello, All!

I am now in what I hope to be the final phase of research and study before
beginning to build, based on Michelle Pignol's plans. I suppose you can
study and research this thing to death, but I'm at the point of wanting to
saw something out!

Anyway, in studying the key placement layout, everything looks fine until I
get to the high F (F5) which suddenly jumps up to the accidental row. I
assume that's because key space is tight at the wheel end of the keybox, and
I assume that's also why the F5 sharp key gets sent to the twilight zone.
It's just not there. I also realize from reading this list that those
really high notes maybe don't a lot of play in most pieces, so it may not be
a big deal, anyway.

So the question is, is this a standard/traditional arrangement for a 23-key
instrument or is this just Mssr Pignol's approach? It seems I've seen some
gurdies advertised as covering "two full octaves" which would have to
include the F5 sharp as well, right? Is it practical, pitch and
playing-wise, to do that by narrowing the keys/keyheads, or is that too much
trouble for too little result?

Thanks for the input.
