US 'approved' oil smuggling

09/08/05 "Reuters" -- -- The largest oil consignment smuggled out of Iraq
took place with US approval just weeks before the April 2003 invasion,
according to a United Nations report.

The Independent Inquiry Committee has spent the past year examining the now
defunct UN oil-for-food program.
The report blamed UN officials and the Security Council for mismanagement
that allowed former leader Saddam Hussein to divert more than $10 billion
from kickbacks and smuggling.

"This area is somehow separate from the United States."

The short version is: there won't be any pictures of this particular group
of guard soldiers on our newscast tonight. Rules (or I suspect in this case
an order on a whim) like those do not HELP the palpable feeling that this
area is somehow separate from the United States. At that same fire scene, a
police officer from out of town raised the muzzle of her weapon and aimed
it at members of the media... obvious members of the media... armed only
with notepads...

Bush has clearly slammed a lid on all news reporting in the disaster area.

America the Betrayer

"The United States is no friend of Israel. "

That's not what you were saying when you took all that money from us, now
totaling more than four times the entire cost of the Apollo Moon program.

I have no problem if Israel wants to think of the US as their enemy. All I
ask is a refund of all the money poured into Israel for the last
half-century, and for Israel to send back all those weapons we gave them.

This is Criminal

Report from New Orleans

[Note: Malik Rahim, a veteran of the Black Panther Party in New Orleans,
for decades an organizer of public housing tenants both there and in San
Francisco and a recent Green Party candidate for New Orleans City Council,
lives in the Algiers neighborhood, the only part of New Orleans that is not
flooded. They have no power, but the water is still good and the phones
work. Their neighborhood could be sheltering and feeding at least 40,000
refugees, he says, but they are allowed to help no one. What he describes
is nothing less than deliberate genocide against Black and poor people.] ---

New Orleans, Sept. 1, 2005 -- It's criminal. From what you're hearing, the
people trapped in New Orleans are nothing but looters. We're told we should
be more "neighborly." But nobody talked about being neighborly until after
the people who could afford to leave -- left.

Cost to US economy could be ten times greater than 9/11 :

Hurricane Katrina will be by far the costliest disaster in United States
history, requiring $150bn (£81bn) to $200bn in relief, clean-up and
reconstruction spending by the federal government, and causing the
short-term loss of some 400,000 jobs.

Theft under cover of ideology

On page 220 of the latest State Comptroller's Report, in the chapter on
"Managing property of absentee Palestinians," beneath the measured wording
favored by comptrollers, there is, so those in the know claim, the tip of a
scandalous iceberg, which lies hidden beneath a thick layer of ideology.
Capital and the government of occupation have joined forces in a
criminal-political case.
