Breastfed babies

Breastfeeding:

1. Helps bond mother and child.
2. Confers passive immunity.
3. Is protective against measles and other communicable diseases.
4. Provides optimal growth and neurological development.
5. Prevents malocclusion [lack of proper closure of the teeth] and leads to better teeth and jaw development.
6. Protects against hypothermia. [reduction of temperature in the body]
7. Provides partial protection against necrotising entercolitis.
8. Provides major protection against bacteremia and meningitis. [inflamation of brain & spinal cord e
9. Reduces the incidence of childhood lymphoma.
10. Enhances visual development.
11. Provides protection against neonatal sepsis.
12. Is less risky for premature babies and low birth rate babies.

Artificially fed babies

1. Have an increased risk factor for juvenile diabetes.
2. May have impaired antibody response to vaccines.
3. Who are premature experience apnea and bradycardia more frequently.
4. Have a higher risk of inflammatory illness.
5. Have a higher risk of celiac disease, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, cholera, and neonatal hypocalcemic tetany.
