Unrevealed : Iran's poison

Short summary:

On Thursday, November 23, 2006, a bomb exploded in a market in Thawra
City (Sadr City) that caused the death and wounding of tens of
civilians. The culprit was caught the next day by Al-Mahdi army who
control Thawra City. His name is Firas Al-Rikabi. He confesses in this
video (in Arabic) that Hakam, who lives in the nearby Rashad district,
had given him the bomb and the detonator and instructed him to place it
among the crowd and blow it up, for $200 bounty.

Both Hakam and Firas are Shi'ites. Hakam belongs to the Badr and SCIRI
Iranian backed shi'ite militias who now control the police in the
Interior Ministry (who are responsible for the recent mass kidnappings)
and the army in the Defence Ministry (being trained to step up by the
American occupiers to allow Bush to step down). Hakam is now being
sought by the Mahdi Army. They executed Firas after the recording of his
confession.

The Bloodbath We Created : news from occupied Iraq - it

The bloodbath argument foisted on the public by the ISG is really about
the refusal of a large segment of the political elite to accept the fact
that the United States has broken Iraq in a way that can no longer be
fixed by U.S. power-and has lost a war it entered into with such
arrogance. It is a statement of ideological belief by an elite still
deep in denial.

Tears of Rage; Tears of Grief

Mass death came again to the Iraqi town of Ishaqi last Friday. Nine
months after an American raid that killed 11 civilians, including five
children under the age of five, another ground and air assault on
suspected insurgents in the area left behind a pile of corpses,
including at least two children. As with the earlier incident, Friday's
attack has produced conflicting stories of what really happened, but the
end result is clear: a multitude of grieving, angry Iraqis further
embittered against the American occupation.

Outraged Shi'i father kills son who joined Jaysh al-Mahdi, robbed and
murdered Sunnis.

In a dispatch posted at 5:01pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that an outraged father had shot and killed his son,
who had joined the pro-Iranian Jaysh al-Mahdi Shi'i-sectarian militia
and taken part in sectarian attacks on Baghdad Sunnis.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses on
Baghdad's Palestine Street as saying that 'Ali Hasan al-Kannani, a
resident of the area, heard from his friends that his son had joined the
Jaysh al-Mahdi sectarian militia and had taken part in burning down the
Sunni al-'Asharah al-Mubashsharin Mosque in the al-'Amil neighborhood
and played a big role in terrorizing Sunni families out of their homes.
Witnesses said that after hearing of his son's sectarian rampages, 'Ali
al-Kannani threatened to kill him.

Mafkarat al-Islam reported that when the son showed up at his father's
house with a car full of furniture and money that he had looted from the
homes of Sunnis he had terrorized and killed, 'Ali al-Kannani shot and
killed his son in the yard of his home.

Iraq : Take This War and Shove It

Talk about stepping into the abyss. George Bush and his Pentagon allies
are considering increasing the number of troops in Iraq by 40,000. The
idea is supported by some members of Congress, although John McCain is
the only one so far to express his support publicly. This is despite the
fact that over 60% of US residents want the troops out of there sooner
rather than later. Not only does the Bush position represent another
blow to the idea that the people of the US run the country, it is a
blatant kick in the voters' face.

American senator puts onus on Iraqis to end slide into chaos

Memoir of a great friend

One morning in the spring of 1983, Jimmy Carter left the King David
Hotel and went for a morning jog, as he did wherever he was in the
world. One U.S. Secret Service agent ran with him, as did two young
Israeli soldiers who insisted on showing them the way.

Carter stopped and apologized but the old men didn't understand him. He
told the soldiers to either let him continue alone or not harass anyone
else. The soldiers reluctantly consented, and explained that "one could
never tell what was being hidden behind newspapers."

Carter is apparently aware of the symbolic cliches in the story: There
is enough room for everyone here; soldiers abuse people with no reason;
misunderstandings; "the press is to blame."

MURDER LEGALISED IN ISRAEL

Despite the fact that there were 339 targeted assassinations in the
Occupied Territories since the year 2000, despite the fact that 210 of
those murdered were targets and the rest (129) were innocent bystanders,
the Supreme Court of Israel declared it legal for Israel to continue
such operations.

This practice has received condemnation from most European countries,
but once again, Israel does not give a damn... it will continue doing
what it wants to.... legal or not. This is a most dangerous precident
that must be protested by the civilised world.... it cannot be allowed.

The following AP report deals with the court's decision....

Arar still on U.S. watch list: U.S. ambassador

Four years ago, the RCMP mistakenly labelled Arar as an Islamic
extremist and asked Washington to place a lookout for Arar. The former
Ottawa engineer was detained at a New York airport in late 2002 and
deported to Syria, where he spent a year being tortured in a prison.

The RCMP has since apologized for its mistake and its commissioner,
Giuliano Zaccardelli resigned after telling a commons committee he gave
incorrect information during earlier testimony.

Late last week, Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day said he didn't know
whether Arar was still on the American watch list, telling a Commons
committee he had recently posed the question to U.S. Attorney General
Alberto Gonzales. Continue Article
