Thanks Bart and Æde,
I am using Kubuntu and was able to run the CMS without any problems (on java
1.5). It seems like the JVM might be causing this.
Yes it is the version of Java that is causing the problem.
I've just downloaded JDK1.5 and changed the JAVA_HOME location and the
cms is working. Now the fun begins :-)
I noticed from Sun's site that version 1.5 entered end of life on April
8th 2008! Not that we should be scared about that of course but more
and more developers like myself will be coming to the party expecting
1.6 to work.
Do you use the Ubuntu java version? There are known issues with using the java
version installed through apt-get. I have several versions of java that I need
for different projects so I install (extract) them manually and set the
JAVA_HOME env variable my self.
I usually install Java using apt-get on my development machine for
convenience but manually install it on remote servers. Thanks for the
tip about running multiple versions on the same machine.
