Hi all, We were asked a question about the newsmanager [1] and e-alerts manager [2] which can be configured to run in Hippo CMS. Both managers send mails from the Hippo cms. The newsletters are sent by users (which initiates a cronjob), the e-alerts are sent automatically (cronjob for directly, daily, weekly, monthly). We were asked if we had thought about sending mail from multiple instances of the cms. So suppose you loadbalance the cms and you want both cms instances to share the load. Do people get 2 mails if you have 2 instances of the cms?
*Answer Newsletter manager: The newslettermanager has been cofigured to send mails from multiple instances. So you'll only receive 1 mail. However, to avoid corner cases: configure the cronjobs to not run at the same time, like so: cronjob1: hca.processqueues.cron=0 0,10,20,30,40,50 * * * ? cronjob2: hca.processqueues.cron=0 5,15,25,35,45,55 * * * ? *Answer E-alert manager: Make sure you only configure 1 instance to send e-mail alerts. The e-mails alert service has not been tested to send mails from 2 servers, so it's best not to do so. - to turn it off on 1 server: hca.notifier.listener.enabled=false - You could also argue to divide the 4 cronjobs between two servers. Make sure you test this option well.
