The JMS server will send out messages to all listening clients. Are you sure that the JMS port of the repository ( which you are using ) is 3035? Area you running it on you're local machine or over the network?

Hi,

I have read the OpenJMS documentation as you guys suggested and I have tried
the example with the Listener.

I am running the Listener on the same machine as where Hippo is running and
installed.
In the Listener.java I have added:

Hashtable properties = new Hashtable();
properties.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "org.exolab.jms.jndi.InitialContextFactory");
        properties.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "tcp://localhost:3035/");
context = new InitialContext(properties);

I have build this and run this with the following cmd line:

"run Listener repository"

I have used "repository" as in the openjms.xml it is stated:
<AdministeredTopic name="repository"/>
The listener connects to 3035 and runs, however when I create/update/delete a
document in the CMS, NO message is received by the Listener.

Can you tell me why this is happening? Am I doing something wrong in the configuration? Should I not listen to port 3035?
Am I listening to the wrong topic?
Or is it because the messages are consumed by Hippo itself and that is why the
Listener does not receive the msg?

Best regards

Ricardo

Hi,

Clear. Ok, so what are the different slide event types, besides DELETE_TYPE?
See
http://svn.hippocms.org/repos/hippo/hippo-repository/trunk/components/ex
calibur-slide/common/src/java/nl/hippo/slide/event/SlideEvent.java

Furthermore I have checked http://svn.hippocms.org/repos/hippo/hippo-repository/trunk/com
ponents/excalibur-slide/client/src/java/nl/hippo/cocoon/cachin
g/SlideJMSEventListener.java
and apparently this class exists within the Hippo framework.

Is it possible to connect to the JMS queue of Hippo from outside the framework, for example via an external java application or message driven bean deployed on another server? If this is possible how can I configure the JNDI name in order to connect to the JMS queue? Or is there already one available?

Best regards

Ricardo

No, the JMS message specifies if it has been created, updated or deleted.

If you publish a document, the corresponding JMS message
will state
that the document in the live tree has either been updated or created, depending on whether it existed before.
There's no event 'published' as far as JMS is concerned.
Look at SlideJMSEventListener : there you see, that should get you going

slideEvent.getType() == SlideEvent.DELETE_TYPE
