NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME - MALAYSIA
The scholarship is awarded in order to conduct scientific research
activities in national institutions and institutes, under the supervision of
an eminent national scientist. Each scholarship has a duration of maximum
one year and is valued at no more than 2400 swiss franc. Applications are
invited from post graduate students at all Malaysian universities (both at
Master's and PhD level). The research activities must be linked to one of
the Planetary Emergencies as set out by the World Federation of Scientists
(see www.federationofsci entists.org) . In Malaysia, priority will be given to
research in the fields of water resources, environmental pollution and
sustainable development.
This scholarship is open to researchers who have no other scholarships or
only have partial support from elsewhere. The applicant is required to
produce and send to his World Federation of Scientists Representative for
the National Scholarship Programme, the following documentation for
approval.
. The official application form for a WFS National Scholarship,
available from the National Scholarship Programme Representative.
. A full curriculum vitae for the applicant, with present activities and
full address data.
. A short curriculum vitae for the supervising scientist, with full
address data.
. A brief description of the scope and methodology of the research which
will be undertaken, signed by the supervisor and the applicant.
. The period of scholarship.
. If approved, the scholarship funds would be sent to the WFS
Representative for the National Scholarship Programme to be remitted monthly
against receipt. The second six-month rate would be transferred after
receiving a brief interim progress report, from both the supervisor and the
scholar. The final report would be due at the end of the scholarship period.
The support of the World Federation of Scientists must be clearly
acknowledged in all related publications.

Dear all,
I am currently the National Scholarship Programme coordinator for the World
Federation of Scientists (WFS). The Federation which is based in Laussane,
Switzerland, promotes international collaboration in science and technology
between scientists and researchers from all parts of the world and has more
than 10,000 members from all parts of the world.
The scholarship is awarded in order to support scientific research
activities in local institutions, under the supervision of a local
scientist. Each scholarship has a duration of maximum one year and is valued
at about 2400 swiss franc (about RM 6,600). Applications are invited from
post graduate students at all Malaysian universities (both at Master's and
PhD level). The research activities must be linked to one of the Planetary
Emergencies as set out by the World Federation of Scientists (see
www.federationofsci entists.org) . In Malaysia, priority will be given to
research in the fields of :
* water resources
* environmental pollution
* soil
* food
* climate change
* energy
* medicine
* sustainable development.
Up to 10 scholarships can be awarded in any one year. This scholarship is
only open to postgraduate students who are doing research. Those doing their
postgraduate degree by coursework are not eligible. The scholarship is open
to Malaysians only.
