We use both Propar and Formula 83. Propar works well for the most part
but does have a tendency if it's humid, to dry moisture out of the air
as we have seen eosin bleed from time to time with it. It doesn't have
much of an odor either. Formula 83 works wonderfully but it smells like
ether! We use this on our processors as it distills really well and
doesn't have the tendency to draw moisture. Hope this information
helps.

Subject: [Histonet] Xylene substitute

Wondering what folks are using as a xylene substitute. We have used
Americlear for many years and it has worked well. I would like to find
something that is biodegradable and doesn't have such a strong odor.
Any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks.
