We have had this discussion many times in our institute and would like some outside thoughts. Is there a charge/cpt code that is acceptable for the technical aspect of a peripheral smear? Hematology doesn't stain our slides. They make the smear and we accession, stain and coverslip, etc. But the pathologist is the only one actually interpreting the smear. Thanks.
