Can you charge for two different stains for the urine cytospin?
The answer to this question is a "depends." If you are just doing any of the "optional" stains that may be used on a cytology preparation (namely Pap, H&E, romanovsky) you are NOT permitted to charge for each of these (they are not considered "special stains"). If you did an iron stain, or melanin stain, or mucin stain, you could charge separately for these "special" stains. Bill Tench Associate Dir.
