I agree - acute appendicitis with rupture and an abscess provides an abundance of gram positive and gram negative bacteria, and such cases are common.
I think that actual clinical tissue is better than controls faked with reference organisms. Tissue gram stains are greatly overrated. They don't work nearly as well as smears do. If you want to see bacteria in tissue sections, stain them with Giemsa or toluidine blue.
