Key Kim, The blade angle depends on the manufacturer of the microtome. In general, Leica suggests and angle of 3 to 5. Microm uses 10 to 12 and Shandon uses 0 to 3. Confused? Me too and I repair them for a living.
I have found that vibration is caused by problems with the knife holder more often than knife angle. The problem can be as simple as the pressure plate not being tight enough.
