Indeed brazilin is structurally very similar to hematoxylin. You might try substituting it for dry hematoxylin, with a Mayer formula - aluminum mordant, iodate oxidant. Alternatively, Anatech offers a proprietary "Brazilliant", a similar preparation, which I would certainly try out myself if I had the chance. I have no commercial connection with Anatech.
