Metal scrapers may remove some of the ceramic coatings on embedding centers, they do have plastic putty knives at Lowes or Home Depot or where ever you get hardware.

A small, metal drywall taping/mud knife-maybe 3-4 inches. They're more flexible than the plastic scrapers, and I think they actually pick up more paraffin per pass.
