>>Anyone using ClearRite (xylene replacement) for tissue processing? If so, what's been your experience? Any effect on IHC or molecular testing?<< From a procedure I wrote many years ago: "A widely used aliphatic substitute for xylene is Richard-Allan’s Clear-Rite 3™. They describe this product as a branched chain aliphatic blend of isoparaffinic oils, a mixture of synthetic isoparafinic [sic] aliphatic hydrocarbons, in the chemical family of synthetic aliphatic hydrocarbons (petroleum solvent). DOT calls the product petroleum naphtha. Its hazard label is 1 health hazard, 3 fire hazard, 0 reactivity, no specific hazard." This is a pretty inert material, and I wouldn't expect any special problems with it. "The Martin M. Berman MD" etc. - Hey, I was in residency with Marty Berman at Johns Hopkins around 1965. I knew he went off to Connecticut but I never heard of him again. Is he still working?
