Job Description

Responsibilities:

  *   Receives and labels incoming specimens
  *   Properly grosses tissue, inks, embeds and prepares frozen sections
  *   Performs initial assessment under the microscope to ensure that complete 
epidermal and deep margins are present
  *   Reports deviations from norm or any abnormalities to the Mohs surgeon for 
further investigation
  *   Documents daily equipment maintenance and temperature checks
  *   Reports any needed repairs to the Office Manager
  *   Performs quality assurance testing as specified in the lab manual
  *   Orders reagents and all other lab materials to ensure adequate supplies
  *   Maintains logbook and storage of slides
  *   Maintains lab procedures in compliance with CLIA and State of California 
regulations

Experience:

  *   2 years of experience as a Histotech and proficiency in Mohs surgery 
cutting and staining techniques.
  *   Ability to troubleshoot inconsistencies in the slides independently.

Education:

  *   Associate of Science degree. License, Certification, Registration
  *   Certified Histologic Technician or Histologic Technologist by the 
American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent society
  *   Ability to work in a fast-paced Mohs department



Preferred Days of the week: Mondays and Thursdays

Typical Schedule: 7:30a-2p

Cases per day: 4-6

Cryostat Model: Leica CM 1520 Cryostat

Stainer: Thermostat Linistat Linear 60Hz 14 station

Compensation Range: $30-$35
