For us, the case(accession) number, part type letter, block number, FS level (1, 2, 3, ...) If there was one part submitted for frozen, that required 3 frozen blocks, each cut at 2 levels, our labels would be: SR25-0000 - A1 - FS1 SR25-0000 - A1 - FS2 SR25-0000 - A2 - FS1 SR25-0000 - A2 - FS2 SR25-0000 - A3 - FS1 SR25-0000 - A3 - FS2 Each block submitted after the frozen for routine processing would begin with SR25-0000 - A3 and so on

Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Hi Paula, is your question about interpretation of labels? I think, each institution has its own "language". For example, if we devide one lymphnode in two halves, one is labelled with "a" the other one with "b". The levels are identified with digits (1,2,..). I would never put the FS in the middle if the sample was A1. Then it would read A1 FS.
