Richard,

I have tried several times to confirm my membership in OHM.
However, the links that are being sent to me don't work.
Do you know someone there who I can tell what's happening?
         Thanks!

Charlotte

So far, the director has said it's OK to use the map as
it's printed on their web site to add the Lincoln Highway to OSM,
but I asked her for a clarification, emphasizing that we need data
in the public domain. If she says OK to that, then I guess it's OK
from their point of view.
Now, my main question is, does the fact that their routes
are superimposed over a Google map create a problem?
it should not. i would double check the google TOS for the maps api
just in case, but i'd be
really surprised if google tried to claim mashup data, and if they
did, i'd be really surprised
if such a claim held up in court.

the original data belongs to the Lincoln Highway folks, and is
theirs to control.

the lincoln highway runs right past my grandmother's old house on
"old 30" just
east of Nevada Iowa. she was very into the whole Lincoln Highway
Days celebration
there. those of us who are too young to remember the highway coming through
(which is nearly all of us at this point) don't understand how big a
deal it was when it
was built. it is a road of special historic significance.

for alternate routes, which may no longer exist, you might want to
look at the OHM
project, which is a database of historic facts separate from OSM
that's just starting
up.
