Hi, I'm a PhD student of transport studies from University of Leeds. I have no geography background. I want to study the change of road network of a city in China over past 40 years. So I have this vague idea to construct road network from old maps but I don't know how to start. I have been reading OSM historical wiki page and related blogs since yesterday, and I'm amazed by works people have done. But due to my limited knowledge in this field, I still have difficulty to start. Is there any suggestion how can I get started? A little experiment would be fine. Thanks!
