Sharing my old and new thoughts about the OHM iD instance I'm working on. We are moving fast towards iD 1.8 and some of the new features implanted in the core(OSM) instance is:
- Conflict Resolution - Smarter Way Movement - Can't Delete an Element that is Part of a Route/Boundary Relation - Map-In-Map(mini map) New in the OHM instance: - custom presents: end_date/start_date/source is now in the top tags together with the name tag(+minor stuff). - historical "imagery" - new basic help section/introduction Stuff I need feedback on: I killed the idea about a timeslider, it isn't that mapping friendly and it requires some heavily JavaScript modifications to core, a better idea would be to aim for a custom feature filter, this could be interesting for other iD instances so it could be developed for core iD. Will aim for that instead because other projects would use it and we won't be maintaining it. When iD gets a plugin system I could consider working on a timeslider again... What are some custom tags OHM uses? and should the be added to iD? Personally I like the idea of a year tag(I use ohm:year(nypl:year/year/date exists too)) great when start/end_date is unknown but one or several years is known. Another example could be the linked data tagging idea I wrote about or the existing historic tags( https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:historic). All tagging needs discussions, but adding it to iD is simple... Translations? I removed all translations in the past, but can we maintain any? Should I add the 2008/2009 tile layers to background settings? The starting point for iD is currently New York, but it's not a super example of mapping, what are the best area for show case existing mapping? Will be updating the live test version later this week when I got some feedback/ideas so I can make changes fast and early! // Albin
