Just a short note that additional scheduled downtime will take place on August 25th (full day) and August 29th (overnight; Eastern Daylight Timezone) for building power feed maintenance. Running diesel generator power is not an option for logistical reasons.
Historical note: the building power feeds are about 40 years old and consist of copper busbars covered in tar which have been cooking in steam tunnels since day one. This scheduled preventive maintenance by the physical plant people follows an unscheduled emergency maintenance event a few years ago that an electrician described as "a beautiful corona effect entirely too close for comfort".
