I wanted to mention one more solution. JDBCRealm. This is pretty well
established in tomcat. It should be easy to retrofit. It has support for roles.
Password file is a good solution as well.
Q. Active Directory is an LDAP at its core. What is a case that you need samba
to get at data in LDAP? It seems like we should be able to support active
directory and LDAP using JNDI--
