Is it possible make validation programatically, like calling validate() function and/or throw an (optional) exception on processModule() / getService()? Should I open JIRA on this request?

Look in your logs for something like this:
org.apache.hivemind.ApplicationRuntimeException: Class test.XYZ does not contain a property named 'foo'.
If not, it is probably a bug and if you wouldn't mind raising an issue in
the jira about so someone will have a look .
