Footballer to be charged with khalwat

JOHOR BARU: Hours before the kick-off against Sabah in a Malaysia Cup Group B match at the Larkin Stadium last night, Johor lost their National Under-23 player Rezal Zambery Yahya when he was caught for allegedly committing khalwat (close proximity) at a hotel here.

The player and his partner who were having lunch in the room when they were caught, were released later on RM3,000 bail.

He will be charged in the Syariah Court today.

Rezal, a key player in the Premier II side, turned up at the stadium and said he was ready to play against Sabah.

But he was dropped from the team and his place taken by Suthesh Nair although his name was on the starting list.
