Malaysia's Anwar taken to hospital after suffering headaches KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 (AFP) - Malaysia's sacked deputy premier Anwar Ibrahim, on trial here on sodomy charges, was taken to hospital Thursday on the judge's orders after complaining of persistent headaches. "The judge has ordered Anwar to be sent to Kuala Lumpur hospital immediately. The doctor will admit him. He is not well," Sankara Nair, one of Anwar's lawyers, told reporters outside the court after the trial was once again adjourned earlier than scheduled. "He has been complaining of pressure in his head and he is generally unwell. He looked pale," the lawyer added. Sankara said Judge Arifin Jaka made the decision in his chambers in the presence of Anwar. Earlier, deputy registrar Rozilah Salleh told the court that Anwar's sodomy trial would be adjourned until Friday. On Wednesday the judge decided to shorten hearings to five hours daily to give the politician more time to rest. Arifin ended Wednesday's hearing early. "I can see from your eyes and your face (are) red. I'm quite concerned," he told Anwar. Anwar, who constantly rubbed his forehead, replied: "Not well. Doctors have asked me to rest." The trial has been adjourned early almost daily since last week when Anwar began complaining of severe headaches. He was sent for hospital tests and went for a brain scan on Tuesday. In September Anwar was sent to hospital for extensive tests after his lawyers told the court that a urine sample secretly obtained in August had been tested in Australia and shown excessively high arsenic levels, indicating a possible murder attempt. A medical report found no trace of "acute" arsenic poisoning when tests were conducted in mid-September. But supporters said this did not rule out the possibility he could have been poisoned earlier. The doctors also found Anwar, 52, to be suffering from health problems, including weight and hair loss and numbness of the fingers, for which they could find no cause.
