PAS: Instruct ACA to probe SPA
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah PAS deputy commissioner Hamzah Abdullah said the Barisan Nasional government was obliged to instruct the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) to conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged irregularities involving the Sabah Ports Authority (SPA).
Making the call in a statement Tuesday, he pointed out that the new amendment to the Prevention of Corruption Act in Parliament had made it an offence for anyone found to have made a false report.
Instead of conducting an "in-house" investigation, the Government should be transparent enough by making a public disclosure of the outcome of the investigation, he said.
He was commenting on the police investigations into the acquiring of some RM65 million banking facilities from a bank here.
The State Government is also conducting its own investigations.
