The event entitled `Khilafah Dawn of a New Era' set out to portray Islam as a comprehensive alternative to the Western system of government by directly challenging the British and other governments including those in the middle east and Asia (none of which are implementing the Shari'ah) with a warning that Muslims whether in Britain or elsewhere will not rest until they establish the Islamic State (Al-Khilafah) which will either conquer countries like Britain through JIHAD or through the fact that the British people will accept the justice of Islamic law over them willingly. The Special Branch and local police in Manchester liased to try to ban the event by making announcements on the local radio stations that the event will not be taking place and that anyone wishing to go to the Park should not bring their families since it was being held by Islamic fundamentalists! However the organisers stayed one step ahead by booking two venues, advertising heavily about the Park and then directing all attendees to the other venue as and when they arrived on the day. The involvement of the Special Branch and the police in banning Islamic events in Britain is not a new phenomenon for Al-Muhajiroun who have had many other events cancelled by the British government such as major rallies in Trafalgar Square and a massive conference scheduled to be held at the Royal Albert Hall last September. The amendments to the Terrorism Act to include provisions criminalizing those calling for the overthrow of the British or any other government is clearly intended to target Movements such as Al- Muahjiroun. Whilst police in riot-gear waited in vans outside Platt Fields Park those at Manchester University enjoyed a conference which motivated many Muslims to do their responsibilities and to join the global Islamic Movements working to liberate Muslim land such as Palestine, Kashmir and Chechnya and working to establish an Islamic State. The continued bombing of innocent civilians in Iraq, support for the pirate State on Israel and support for Putin for butchering Muslims in Chechnya leading to the imprisonment of Abdullah Hussain (member of Al-Muhajiroun) for 4 Months for throwing a brick at Putin's car when he visited Prime Minister Blair outside Downing Street in London recently, counts as more evidence, if indeed it were needed, of the way in which Muslims are viewed by the British regime as their hatred towards Islam and Muslims becomes ever more evident. Al-Muhajiroun are scheduled to hold a `Rally for Khilafah' in Trafalgar Square on Sunday the 27th of August 2000.
